What is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

February 2020

Many women have suffered in silence around the taboo of speaking aloud about problems with their vaginas, there is no such thing as a perfect vagina and this is something we all should be aware of. For a long time, women have opted to go under the knife in an effort to solve their problems but this can be a difficult decision to make as there is a lot of recovery time and stress surrounding the procedures.

Laser vaginal rejuvenation has recently been discussed amongst the media and medical professionals as a new innovative solution for women suffering, vaginal rejuvenation is not just one conclusive treatment, it is a collective course of treatments intended to improve the anatomy encompassing the area.

Unfortunately, not every woman feels confident with her vagina, as women, we go through natural changes in life and these changes can have an impact on our vaginas. Vaginal rejuvenation is not entirely for cosmetic use, many natural factors can lead to a woman’s decision to undertake the treatment as a woman’s anatomy can change from childbirth, menopause, and ageing. The effects caused by these can range from vaginal dryness, a loss in laxity, lichen sclerosis, urinary incontinence, and painful sex.

What makes vaginal rejuvenation innovative is the non-surgical energy-based equipment used during procedures. A popular choice for women is to use FemiLift. Created by Alma Laser, FemiLift is a minimally invasive laser treatment to help tone and tighten muscles in the vagina. The procedure is simple, a laser sleeve is inserted into the vagina as heat energy lasers penetrate the tissue inside the vagina canal creating small wounds, having this procedure stimulates collagen renewal and increases the number of elastic in the muscle tissue.

The whole procedure takes no longer than 30 minutes and requires no anaesthetic as its pain-free patients that have had the treatment sometimes say the procedure can be uncomfortable, but no more than a smear test.

Recovery time is also minimal, this makes the treatment convenient and accessible for everyone, the only downtime doctors recommend after the treatment is to undertake no strenuous activity for 30 days and to avoid sexual intercourse for up to a week. Results can be seen immediately, although you will notice full improvement within 3-6 months, it is recommended to have a few sessions of vaginal rejuvenation for longer-lasting quality results.
