Thinking of getting Dermal Fillers? Here’s everything you need to know!

April 2021

Naturally, as we age our face and skin also change over the years. And that is completely normal and most people are perfectly happy with how they look. But for others, ageing skin can make them feel insecure about their physical appearance and make them look a lot older than they actually are. This can not only deflate one’s self-confidence but it can also make people feel unhappy and reluctant to socialise and be around others.

Although there are many over the counter products and creams that claim to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles plus many different makeup techniques that help to give a plumper lip; nothing compares to professional treatment. People often spend hundreds of pounds on expensive makeup products hoping to help with their facial insecurities, but a more long term fix would be investing in dermal fillers.

We’ll go into what Dermal fillers actually are in more detail below, but it’s basically a non-surgical treatment that helps to plump up the appearance of the skin, replacing volume were needed to create a more natural and youthful look.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers, also known as face fillers, are small injections that are made up of hyaluronic acid that when injected, add volume to soft tissue. You can have dermal fillers in various parts of your face including lips, cheeks, jaws, nose, chin, under eyes etc – view our full list here.

Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in our body and its main purpose is to keep the body and skin hydrated. Similar to collagen and elastin, the amount of naturally occurring hyaluronic acid reduces as we get older. This is why some people start to notice wrinkles and loose skin on their face and body.

How long do fillers last?

Dermal fillers are used to create a naturally enhanced look and the results can last from six to twelve months. Most people return to work immediately, as it is a fast and effective approach than surgery.

Do face fillers hurt?

Most people feel a slight discomfort whilst the filler is being injected but at DD clinical, we apply a topical anaesthetic, which is a cream that numbs the area being treated.

To alleviate the pain, we also use another local anaesthetic along with the dermal filler that helps to continue numbing the area until the end of the treatment process. The procedure takes between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated.

Where should you go to get dermal fillers?

We always recommended going to a trusted and reputable skin clinic for any type of beauty treatment. At DD Clinical our medical practitioners are fully qualified and medically trained. We always use the latest products and technology to ensure our clients are comfortable throughout the treatment process.

It’s always worth asking around and reading reviews before you consider any skin clinic, as you need to be sure you’ll be in safe hands throughout the whole process.
