Wrinkle Relaxing Injections

As we get older, our skin reduces in its elasticity and our tone is also reduced. This all prevents recoiling of the skin, which leads to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.

Injections are used to prevent the aging process by reducing the prominence of fine lines and wrinkles. It achieves this by blocking the release of acetylcholine, which prevents the communication between the nerve impulse and the muscle, thus not allowing the muscles injected to contract.

Injections starts to work around 4-7 days post injection and can take up to 3 weeks to reach its full potential. The drug then works in full effect for 12 weeks, in certain situation this may be longer. However, certain environmental factors such as sun exposure can reduce the longevity, hence it is advised to wear a high prevention sun factor particularly during the summer months. Often your aesthetics nurse will recommend that you book in for a review at 3 weeks to ensure that you have a suitable result.

The most suitable time to have injections is when the dynamic lines around your frown, forehead or eyes begin to still be there at rest. This time can depend on numerous factors for example, sun exposure, stress and smoking.

Jane and Susan are both qualified nurse prescribers and recognise that a full analysis of a patients maturing process and history taking is paramount. They believe that injections are one of the most effective non-surgical anti-ageing treatments available.

Injections can often work well in conjunction with dermal fillers. Often these treatments can complement one another, giving a natural improved and youthful result.

What is Wrinkle Relaxing Injections?

This is a drug made from a neurotoxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum toxin. It is used medically to treat certain muscular conditions and cosmetically to remove wrinkles by temporarily preventing the contraction of a muscle.

Our medical team are fully qualified and highly experienced so you can rest assured that you’re in safe hands; we guarantee natural looking results and a stress free clinical experience.

How long does it last?

It is a non-surgical procedure and as such the results are temporary. After your treatment you’ll be able to go about your day without disruption; many of our clients have this treatment in their lunch hour and return to work! For a longer lasting effect we recommend top up treatment every 4 months.

How does it work?

It is a series of tiny injections into the muscles of the face in areas where wrinkles form. The most common areas are the crow’s feet zone at the side of your eyes, the frown lines that appear on your brow and the fine lines that can form around your lips. The injections cause a temporary paralysis of the muscles by blocking the nerve receptors that prompt facial expressions; allowing the muscles to fully relax and giving the appearance of smoother, younger skin.

Paralysis sounds scary.
It does, but it isn’t. Our practitioners are experienced in using only small amounts to smooth out the wrinkles without affecting your ability to form expressions. You will still be able to communicate a full range of facial expressions and you’ll look completely natural. In fact, we’re confident that no one will even suspect you’ve had treatment; they’ll just compliment you on how good you look and you’ll feel great!

Are there any side effects?

Most clients do not suffer from any side effects. However, it is important to go through your consent form and be aware of side effects even if they are highly unlikely. These may include headaches, small localised bruising, swelling, skin redness, local muscle weakness.
